Fabulous Wedding Find - Honeymoon
New York City 10/01/08
Where can you visit 843 acres of park which offers fine dining at the boathouse, paddling a canoe on the lake, renting a bike, going to the zoo, visiting Shakespeare Park where outdoor performances are held in the summer & ride the carousal? Oh, and did we mention this park only represents 6% of Manhattan!! Check out www.centralpark.com.
Take an open air Double Decker bus tour www.citysightsny.com where you can hop on and off visiting all the neighborhoods in New York. A great way to get acquainted with this magnificent city and at the same time being entertained by the tour guide who is waiting to be discovered; This, after all, is just his day job!
Stopping in Greenwich Village make sure you visit the café corner Bleeker & McDougal, stop at Figaro Café. Grab a prime outdoor table, order a latte, sit back and "people watch". I hear Gwyneth Paltrow has an apartment there oh la la.
Resist going to name brand restaurants, try the many ethnic restaurants New York has to offer, their reasonably priced and serve up good sized portions. Check out Chinatown, Greenwich Village and the trendy SoHo for the best deals. Treat yourself to a romantic dinner at the Boathouse Restaurant in central park. The restaurant offers a beautiful view to watch the sunset over the lake.
Entertainment is everywhere, choices are overwhelming. Visit www.nycvisit.com to get updated info on everything going on in New York during your visit.
Shopping is a must, some people say it's a sport in New York City and I would have to agree. Everywhere you turn there are stores bigger and better, names we only dream of in Canada. We found "Century 21" in the financial district. No it's not a realtor but it is a giant discount designer clothing, shoes and accessories store. I could have stayed in there for days but my husband needed to see the Empire State building, like the Empire State building is going anywhere? But the designer jeans I found definitely will not be here the next time I'm in New York!
